Economic Development

Troutman Sanders lawyers have acted as counsel to both governmental entities and private companies on the design and implementation of economic development infrastructure improvements and incentives to encourage private development. Our clients have included a statewide economic development organization in its efforts to attract private business investment; a number of local or regional economic development organizations and authorities in developing needed infrastructure or designing and documenting incentive proposals and packages; and several large manufacturers in their negotiations with statewide and local economic development organizations for grants and other economic development incentives.

Representative Experience

  • Counsel to Atlanta Development Authority on creation of Atlanta Beltline Redevelopment Plan and Tax Allocation District.
  • Counsel to Georgia Department of Economic Development on Caterpillar and Baxter Healthcare new plan projects in 2011-2012.
  • Counsel to Atlanta Downtown Improvement District and to Central Perimeter Community Improvement District in their initial formation and continued operation.
  • Counsel to LG Hausys in obtaining economic incentives for construction of new plants.
  • Counsel to Electrolux in obtaining economic incentives for new facility.
