Charlotte is home to major corporations and institutions in sectors, including financial services, energy and manufacturing. The Charlotte office, which is located uptown in the One Wells Fargo Center, was opened in May 2014 and features a diverse practice that includes real estate, corporate transactions, litigation and energy. Benefitting from Troutman Sanders’ strong state presence anchored by offices in Charlotte and Raleigh, our lawyers represent clients on matters, not only in the Southeast, but across the U.S. and in international markets as well.
The real estate practice is focused on the representation of clients in the acquisition, sale, joint ventures, development, leasing and financing of commercial real estate in multi-family, suburban and high rise office, retail, industrial, hotel and resort, single-family developments, and complex mixed-use projects. A number of partners in the Charlotte office are LEED-AP certified. In addition, lawyers represent lenders, borrowers and third-party investors in financial restructuring and workout transactions. Our corporate lawyers represent privately-held and publicly-traded companies in middle market transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private securities offerings, and represent sponsors and investors in the formation of private investment funds.
In the area of litigation, we represent clients in corporate and commercial disputes; securities and antitrust litigation; disputes related to private equity investments; construction litigation, as well as real estate and land use litigation; ERISA litigation; and product liability. In addition, our litigators have broad experience in the energy industry, representing operating utilities of the nation’s largest electric power holding company in significant matters before state regulatory commissions, including rate proceedings, energy efficiency and wholesale/retail power interface proceedings, and other regulatory matters.
