Bill has over 28 years of trial and appellate practice experience, specializing in class action, RICO, consumer finance, First Amendment, telecommunications and business litigation.  His practice is national in scope, having represented clients in federal and state court proceedings throughout Georgia and in over 20 other states.  During his career Bill has tried numerous cases to verdict, and in recognition of his trial experience was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2005.  He has served as Chief of the Firm's Litigation Section since 2003.

Representative Experience
National Litigation Counsel to Associates First Capital Corporation and its affiliates in various litigation matters, including defense of consolidated multi-district class actions.

Lead appellate counsel to AT&T Corp. in appeal of order refusing to dismiss action alleging misappropriation of trade secrets on grounds of state secrets privilege, DTM Research LLC v. AT&T Corp., 245 F.3d 327 (4th Cir. 2001); order attaching settlement payments to international telecommunications carriers under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, Alejandre v. Telefonica Larga Distancia de P.R., 183 F.3d 1277 (11th Cir. 1999); and order certifying nationwide RICO class actions, Andrews v. AT&T, 95 F.3d 1014 (11th Cir. 1996).

Lead class action counsel to CitiFinancial, Inc., AT&T Corp., The Hartford, Zale Corporation, and others in numerous federal and state consumer class actions in Georgia, Texas, Florida, Missouri, West Virginia, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, California and Illinois.

Counsel to Cable News Network in various First Amendment matters, including controversy arising out of the publication of the recorded conversations of General Manuel Noriega.

Lead counsel to Matria Healthcare in litigation against selling stakeholders in multiple fora asserting fraud and breach of contract claims arising out of merger with competitor.  Matria Healthcare, Inc. v. Coral SR LLC, 2007 Del. Ch. LEXIS 32 (Del. Ch. 2007)

Lead counsel to ARRIS International in two declaratory judgment actions in the Eastern District of Texas and Northern District of California seeking to establish its ownership rights in certain patents.

Counsel to Southern Company in defense of employee "Whistleblower" claims, including claims brought by former employees as intervenors in license amendment proceedings before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
