Programs & Mentoring
The Troutman Sanders Women’s Forum (TSWF) increases the visibility of our women attorneys and their accomplishments, offers expanded professional development and business development opportunities, and provides a supportive environment for the continued recruitment, promotion and retention of women attorneys firm-wide.
To accomplish these objectives, the Women’s Forum sponsors:
-
Quarterly professional and business development programs;
-
Small mentoring groups comprised of female attorneys varying in levels of seniority; and
-
Women-focused business development events in each office.
In the corporate world, more and more women are moving into leadership positions and making decisions about outside counsel. Clients expect women and other minorities to be included on their legal teams and to play prominent roles on those teams.
Troutman Sanders has been very fortunate to develop and attract some of the best women lawyers in the country. We have numerous women who are recognized leaders in their field at the state, regional, and national level. We also have women who are leaders in their communities.
Troutman Sanders recognizes the inherent value of women collaborating with other women. With a network of over 1,000 female community leaders, Troutman Sanders Women’s Forum organizes events in each of its respective office locations as vehicles for business and professional development. Past events have included executive retreats to New York City, spa outings, book signings, intimate group dinners followed by an evening at the theatre as well as educational breakfasts and luncheons in which a timely topic is addressed by a panel of experts.
Troutman Sanders believes it is important to allow female community leaders to interact with one another socially as well as professionally and marries these goals when organizing firm events. During events such as cooking classes, flower arrangement tutorials, chocolate tastings, wine tastings and behind-the-scenes tours of museums and stage productions, the firm’s female attorneys are able to actively and effectively network with other executive women. These events, which are often held in women-owned businesses to highlight successful professional women in the community, allow the firm’s female attorneys the opportunity to increase their visibility within the firm as well as in the community at large. TSWF also strives to provide a blend of small-scale and large-scale events to allow attorneys the opportunity to connect with other women in intimate settings as well as within a more expanded network. Troutman Sanders recognizes that an investment in its women is an investment in the firm’s overall success and is deeply committed to the elevation and advancement of its female attorneys through business development opportunities.
Troutman Sanders Women’s Forum places a high value on the concept of mentoring. Our belief is that our women can learn from and connect with one another to continue to grow as women, attorneys and community leaders. Mentoring is important for improving our retention and the advancement of women attorneys at all levels. By developing and implementing programs and support systems that train, mentor and empower our attorneys, we help ensure their success.
