An interview with Ben Noble, vice president of federal affairs for Troutman Sanders Strategies in Washington, was featured December 2 on Politico.com.

What got Politico’s attention was Noble’s recent work as a lobbyist for the Catfish Farmers of America. His mission, according to Politico: “Settle the score between the $400 million domestic catfish farm industry and foreign imports from Vietnam, which farmers allege are not raised according to healthy standards.”

Noble said what’s at issue is food safety because “the fish are still being inspected under the Food and Drug Administration – a process that inspects only 2 percent of all imported fish.” Instead, he and the Catfish Farmers want the USDA to inspect imported catfish, as called for under last year’s farm bill.
