Troutman Sanders Partner Named Richmond Lawyer of the Year

RICHMOND, Va. – Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce that Fred W. Palmore III has been named as the “Richmond Best Lawyers Banking Lawyer of the Year” for 2009 by Woodward White, Inc.
For the first time in more than a quarter century in publication, Best Lawyers is designating “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities.
These specialties are Banking Law, Bet-the-Company Litigation, Corporate Law, Family Law, Personal Injury Litigation, and Real Estate Law, and only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”
Best Lawyers compiles its lists of attorneys by conducting exhaustive peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current, 15th edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2009), is based on more than 2.5 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.
The lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” have received particularly high ratings in Best Lawyers surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity.
At Troutman Sanders, Palmore is a member of the firm’s Financial Institutions; Governmental Law; Healthcare; and Mergers, Acquisitions and Business Ventures practice groups. His practice focuses on the representation of banks, mortgage companies, savings institutions, and their holding companies.
He received an A.B. in 1967 from the College of William & Mary and a J.D. in 1973 from the University of Richmond, where he was a member of the editorial board of the University of Richmond Law Review. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Palmore has also been recognized in Best Lawyers in America publications for Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights (since 1993), Banking Law (since 1995), and Financial Institutions and Transactions Law in the 2005-2006 edition.
