Shawn focuses his practice on aircraft finance, general commercial aviation law, and equipment leasing. He represents major and regional U.S. airlines, assisting those airlines in the acquisition and disposition of new and used aircraft, and in the financing of airline equipment (primarily aircraft). He advises lessors, lessees, investors, and borrowers on aircraft financings, acquisitions, distressed debt transactions, and problem lease and loan workouts. Additionally, he advises clients with regard to various commercial aviation matters such as aircraft maintenance, aircraft modifications, aircraft conversions, simulator and training agreements, charter agreements, airport leases, and similar matters. Shawn also participates in the resolution of disputes arising from such transactions, including litigation. Additionally, he advises clients in their acquisition and financing of general aviation assets such as corporate jets and helicopters. Prior to joining Troutman Sanders, Shawn also was involved in airline collective bargaining and other airline labor and employment matters.
