Troutman Sanders entered the China market in 1997 and opened its Shanghai office in early 2007, further enhancing its presence in Asia. Shanghai is the largest metropolis in the People's Republic of China and the eighth largest in the world. Widely regarded as the citadel of China's modern economy, the city also serves as one of the most important cultural, commercial, financial, industrial and communications centers of the country.
The growing Shanghai office currently has eleven legal professionals. The office is situated in Shanghai's most established downtown area and is supported by a bilingual office staff and technology necessary for the fast turn-around of bilingual transactions.
The Shanghai office works with the firm’s Hong Kong office to assist North American and European-based clients with investments and operations in Asia, and also assist Asia-based clients with their U.S. and Asian investments and operations. The Shanghai office focuses on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment and joint ventures, real estate, intellectual property, dispute resolution and private and venture capital.
