September 24, 2009
Richmond, Va. - Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce that Richmond partner Robert L. Brooke was honored September 23, 2009, as the Volunteer of the Year by the Greater Richmond Bar Foundation for his contributions to its Pro Bono Clearinghouse Program and the ConnectNetwork, both of whom provide legal assistance to various non-profit groups.
The award ceremony was held yesterday at the Second Presbyterian Church in Richmond, where representatives of various non-profits as well as Foundation volunteers meet for fellowship and reflection of their common missions, as well as partaking in the awards ceremony.
At Troutman Sanders, Brooke's practice focuses on intellectual property and technology counseling and litigation; trademark and copyright prosecution; intellectual property audits; management and registration of intellectual property assets; intellectual property, technology, Internet and e-commerce licenses and agreements; and litigation and dispute resolution of intellectual property and technology disputes.

About The Pro Bono Clearinghouse:
The Pro Bono Clearinghouse is a referral service, linking experienced volunteer attorneys with non-profit corporations in need of legal representation. Over the last eight years, the Clearinghouse has allowed many non-profits in the Greater Richmond area to focus more of their resources on their charitable purpose. In 2008 alone, Clearinghouse attorneys performed more than $100,000 in free legal services.
About ConnectNetwork:
ConnectNetwork is a community knowledge network that targets change at the local level. The Network’s power comes from the relationships it fosters via region-wide and issue-specific social networks. The focus is local because lasting change occurs when the citizens affected by a problem work together to solve it. The resource is free because those who need it most are the least able to afford it.
Each local Network affords nonprofits, government, businesses and civic-minded people daily access to data and reports, local organizations and information and each other to create opportunities for civic action.
About the Richmond Bar Association:
The Greater Richmond Bar Foundation serves the public and legal profession by supporting, facilitating and promoting the delivery of pro bono legal services for non-profit organizations through the Pro Bono Clearinghouse, by providing financial support to others in greater Richmond who provide pro bono legal services, and by involvement in and sponsorship of law-related educational and service projects that encourage public understanding of, participation in and access to our justice system.
