Richard has broad experience in transactional and corporate matters, particularly mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, as well as joint ventures and strategic partnering. His clients primarily consist of middle-market companies and private equity funds that focus on them. Richard also enjoys working with start-up and emerging growth companies, early-stage venture funds and angel investors.
Richard has represented dozens of family-owned businesses, including those in their second and third generation. He is sensitive to the issues unique to family businesses in their different stages of development, and recognizes the need for interdisciplinary collaboration.
He advises clients in a diverse array of industries ranging from information technology and biotechnology to apparel and film production. He also has extensive experience representing companies in the healthcare industry and helping such companies to develop workable business strategies in the context of intersecting, and sometimes conflicting, regulatory, securities and tax considerations.
