Retail Properties

Lawyers in the Retail Properties Practice Group are experienced in the drafting and negotiating of agreements for the acquisition and disposition of operating assets for all different sized retail properties and projects. We draft and negotiate development agreements, construction contracts, architecture agreements, leasing agreements and management agreements on behalf of users and providers of those services.  In addition, we handle all aspects of retail leasing for both the landlord and the retail tenant.  Landlords range from regional shopping malls to the smaller neighborhood centers.  Tenants include national retailers and the local entrepreneur.

The Retail Properties Practice Group is comprised of over 40 lawyers from various sections of the firm.  While the majority of the practice group members devote all of their time to real estate matters, the group also includes lawyers from the firm’s Environmental & Natural Resources, Land Use & Zoning, Government Law, Construction, Securities & Corporate Governance and Tax Practice Groups.

Our clients range from national developers and retailers to neighborhood shopping centers and restaurant groups. We are involved in projects around the country and throughout the world.  While most of our work comes from clients whose primary business is real estate acquisition, leasing or development; and from institutional clients such as banks and insurance companies which devote a substantial part of their portfolios to real estate assets, we also represents non-real estate clients who, from time to time, have real estate needs.
