The hiring of three Raleigh lobbyists by Troutman Sanders Strategies was highlighted in articles by the Raleigh News & Observer and The Insider.
The News & Observer first published the story on its website on January 5, then placed the item in the next day’s newspaper under the headline “Scoggin on the move.”
That’s Bill Scoggin, described by the newspaper as a “well-known lobbyist” and former president of the North Carolina Professional Lobbyists Association. The article stated that “Scoggin, along with lobbyists Daniel Baum and Christopher Hollis, joined Troutman Sanders Strategies on Jan. 1.”
The article noted that the trio was formerly with K&L Gates in Raleigh and that “last year, their wide-ranging client list included Mecklenburg County, Wells Fargo and Microsoft.”
On January 6, The Insider (State Government News Service) noted that Scoggin was “heading a new Raleigh lobbying office for Troutman Sanders Strategies,” which it said was “formed in 2002 by Atlanta-based law firm Troutman Sanders” and “also has offices in Atlanta, Richmond and Washington.”
