Matthew is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property work, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, licenses, and trade secrets. He also works with clients to develop holistic intellectual property portfolios and strategies specifically tailored to meet their individual business needs and goals, allowing the maximization of his clients’ intellectual assets in the marketplace.

Matthew’s experience with the United States Patent and Trademark Office allows him to represent clients effectively and efficiently in a wide variety of patent procurement matters, spanning software, hardware, wireless networks, telecommunications, multimedia, social networks, online technologies, “green” technologies, finance, and business methods.

Matthew has assisted technology, media, and financial companies in various merger and acquisition scenarios, where he has focused on the underlying intellectual property assets and risks in those transactions. He has also advised clients on issues concerning patent validity and invalidity, product and service patentability, freedom to operate, litigation risk, and competitive patent portfolios. He counsels web service providers and smartphone application companies in online privacy matters and issues involving application access by minors.
