Julie’s practice focuses on nationwide complex insurance coverage litigation and counseling insurance clients on matters of coverage. In particular, her practice focuses on long-tail exposure, environmental, and mass tort matters, including asbestos liability. She has experience representing insurers in asbestos bankruptcy proceedings, including coverage litigation with the trust post-confirmation. Many of the long-tail claims that she has handled involve quantitative analysis of complex allocation of damages among multiple insurers. She also has experience in representing excess insurers in coverage disputes relating to directors and officers liability coverage.
Representative Experience
Representing insurer in arbitration arising out of dispute of exhaustion of underlying insurance coverage.
Involved as co-counsel in the favorable settlement of asbestos coverage litigation that involved the coordination of numerous excess insurer defendants.
Counseling clients on allocation of defense and indemnity in numerous asbestos products and premises claims in Louisiana and Texas.
Counseled client on coverage issues related to nationwide clergy sexual abuse claims including trigger, allocation and number of occurrences.
Provide advice on the application of deductible endorsements.
Act as outside general counsel to a direct marketing company, providing advice on litigated and contractual matters.
Successfully resolved a Lanham Act and Unfair Trade Practices claim asserted against a mail order retailer.
Monitor the erosion of underlying coverage from asbestos claims and projection of rate of exhaustion based upon historic settlements.
Counsel insurer client on potential exposure arising out of environmental contamination at over 100 sites nationwide.
Advise client on priority of coverage for bodily injury claims arising out of the spill of toxic chemicals.
Advise clients on whether current entities are entitled to coverage under insurance policies issued to alleged predecessor companies, including analysis of complex corporate transactions.
Involved as co-counsel in the litigation and resolution of an insurance coverage dispute against a trust created as a part of an asbestos bankruptcy plan.
