John has extensive experience in representing debtors, trustees, secured lenders, and other parties-in-interest in both Chapter 11 proceedings. John has over 20 years of experience representing trustees appointed by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation to liquidate failed broker-dealers. Many of these cases involved securities fraud on the part of the broker-dealers' principals, and the prosecution of asset recovery actions to recover customer funds wrongfully diverted to the principals
John represented, as a Chapter 11 debtor, the United States subsidiary of RSL Communications, an international telecommunications carrier whose ultimate parent was in joint administration in Bermuda, and whose principal overseas affiliate was in joint administration in the United Kingdom. From that and other cases, John is experienced in dealing with joint administrators and liquidators of foreign affiliates.
