Coastal Zone Management
Our attorneys are involved in cutting-edge issues related to coastal zone management. For example, we are involved in administrative and judicial litigation involving the still-undecided question whether State A has CZMA authority to review an activity located entirely in State B which has effects in State A's coastal zone. We have prepared and submitted a consistency certification, under protest, and prevailed in an appeal to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce from a state's consistency "objection." We have also represented a coalition of marine conservation organizations in a successful effort to win federal approval for estuary restoration and protection grant programs.
