Consumer Law Practice Group

The members of the Consumer Law Practice Group regularly advise retailers, manufacturers and other providers of consumer goods and services on compliance with the requirements of Federal, state and local laws regulating advertising, endorsements and testimonials, gift cards and escheat, customer loyalty programs, comparative advertising, price advertising, special offers, charitable sales promotions, green marketing, energy use certifications, sweepstakes and contests, consumer product safety, labeling (apparel, appliances, home furnishings, toys, food), warranties, telemarketing, e-marketing, in-home sales, brick and mortar sales, credit sales and debt collection. We also perform legal compliance audits of portfolios and businesses on behalf of clients who are either purchasing or financing the assets.

We have a long and impressive record representing companies being investigated for consumer fraud by the Federal Trade Commission, State Attorneys General across the country, and the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs. We also routinely assist companies with product recalls before the Consumer Product Safety Commission and with energy efficiency investigations by the Department of Energy.

We defend companies sued in consumer class actions around the country and have efficiently resolved numerous California Proposition 65 matters.

We have also had the privilege of assisting foreign countries in the adoption of their consumer protection laws.
