Becki’s practice focuses on insurance coverage litigation and counseling involving professional liability policies issued to publicly-traded and private corporations and their directors and officers, not-for-profit organizations, homeowners associations, law firms, architects, accountants, and other professionals. She also advises insurance clients and litigates matters involving employment practices liability insurance and commercial general liability insurance. Becki has litigated cases in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate level.
Becki also has collaborated on several pro bono matters with the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California and the Orange County Public Law Center.
Representative Experience
Successfully obtained $13.8 million judgment in favor of insurer in subrogation action to recover from contractual indemnitor amounts insurer had paid to defend and settle a securities class action against its insured.
Successfully secured summary judgment in favor of insurance company in bad faith and breach of contract lawsuit in connection with insured company’s attempt to seek coverage under professional liability policy.
Represented and obtained favorable settlement of breach of contract and bad faith lawsuit against insurer where insured company sought coverage under directors and officers policy for employment claims.
Represented through settlement insurer in connection with declaratory relief action where insured law firm sought coverage under professional liability policy for claims arising from role in local government bribery scheme.
Represented insurer in contribution action where common insured sought coverage in connection with design and construction defect claims.
Obtained a significant victory and a published opinion in the California Court of Appeal in pro bono case involving California’s anti-SLAPP statute.
