For more than 20 years, Troutman Sanders' lawyers have been serving clients doing business in Asia. Our Hong Kong office was established in 1997 and combined with our team in Shanghai we have more than 20 legal professionals assisting Asian, North American and European-based companies to invest and do business in Asia. Our Asia team and U.S. lawyers also have significant experience in assisting Asia-based clients with their U.S. investments and operations. Our clients have relied on our Asian legal professionals to help successfully consummate transactions in China, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines.

Most members of our Asia team are bilingual or trilingual, and all live in the cities in which they work. All partners and associates on our Asia team are qualified in either the U.S., Canada or Europe, and the majority of our lawyers are also qualified to practice law in either Hong Kong or the PRC.

As part of an international law firm with more than 700 attorneys helping clients in over 50 practice areas, our Asia team is able to draw upon practice area, industry and jurisdictional expertise from throughout Troutman Sanders. This wealth of expertise enables us to assist clients in consummating complicated cross-border or foreign investment transactions by providing our clients with seamless, multi-jurisdictional legal advice and service. Troutman Sanders has more than 75 attorneys and solicitors that form the International Practice Group, specializing in transactions outside of the United States or having a cross-border component. Additionally, our non-U.S. clients pursuing opportunities within the United States often rely on the services of the Troutman Sanders Public Affairs Group LLC, a governmental relations and issue management firm, based in Washington, D.C.

The Asia team focuses on seven primary practice areas: mergers and acquisitions; foreign direct investment and joint ventures; securities and capital markets; real estate; intellectual property; arbitration; private equity and venture capital.

The clients assisted by our Asian offices operate in a wide array of industries, including mining, oil and gas, petrochemical, construction materials, steel, forestry, pulp and paper, pharmaceuticals, bio-technology, healthcare, cosmetics, food and beverages, hospitality, real estate, telecommunications, IT, e-commerce, media and entertainment, manufacturing, distribution and logistics, financial institutions and transportation.
