Ashley is the Managing Partner of the Raleigh office of Troutman Sanders. His practice focuses on the development, construction, permitting, acquisition and sale of retail, industrial and office property. Ashley also serves as the Real Estate Section Chief for the firm. The group includes attorneys in New York, Shanghai, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Atlanta, San Diego, Orange County and Raleigh. Ashley serves as a member of the firm's Executive Committee.

Representative Experience
Represented purchaser in acquisition and development of multiple shopping centers in Southeast totaling $250,000,000.

Counsel to national retailer in the acquisition and development of over one hundred new locations and expansions.

Secured special and conditional use permits for large scale real estate projects in more than twenty counties and municipalities.

Represented regional shopping mall in $250,000,000 in refinance.

Represented venture fund in acquisition of distressed promissory notes collateralized by commercial properties.

Represented developer in the acquisition and development of marinas throughout the Southeast.

Counsel for international corporation in its acquisition of port facility in the Southeast.

Represented multinational corporation in securing North Carolina Jobs and Tax Incentives for business relocation and expansion.

Represented Power Center in dispute with architect regarding negligent design and construction.

Represented multiple large real estate developers in successful non-judicial workout and restructuring of loan facilities collectively totaling $900,000,000.

Debtor’s counsel for successful Chapter 11 reorganizations including a regional shopping mall in Virginia, multi-state healthcare provider in Southeast, apartment complexes in North Carolina and the District of Columbia, regional restaurant chain, multi-state construction company and a combined use development on the Outer Banks of North Carolina totaling over 20,000 acres.

Represented Unsecured Creditor's Committees in successful recovery of preferences claim against Fortune 500 company based on "insider" of an "insider" theory.

Lender’s counsel for mezzanine finance provider in Chapter 11 filings for automotive parts distributor and discount department store chain.

Counsel to regional bank in Chapter 11 regarding multiple coastal multifamily properties.
