A media pro: New York managing partner appears on Bloomberg Law

June 23, 2011

New York managing partner Rori Cassirer shines in two June 23 interviews with Bloomberg Law’s Lee Pacchia.

In an interview about the CFPB and its impact on the business community, Cassirer was asked about whether she thought the U.S. government got it right in creating the bureau.

“As with any other expansion of government regulatory power, you run the risk, and it depends on how it’s implemented, of them throwing out the baby with the bathwater,” she said. “There may be too much regulatory bureaucracy. There may be too much reporting. There’s a risk of privacy breaches….  I’m not sure they’ve gotten this right.”

In an interview about the whistleblower provisions found within the Dodd-Frank Act and their effects on the business community, Cassirer was asked if they were considered the ‘Big Megillah’ of the law.

“They are the ‘Big Megillah,’ indeed … because the bounty provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act really create a terrific incentive for an employee to turn their company in,” she said. “I mean, that’s the simplest way of putting it. And then the law also provides so the company can’t retaliate against that person for notifying the SEC.”
